2023 Pinot Gris on Skins

The Wine.

Deep salmon in colour with lifted perfume of pink roses, orange blossom, quince paste, blood orange, Campari, black olive. Dry and crisp on the palate with red berry, toffee apple, sour plum and quince paste all vying for attention. Firm, fine grained tannins and savoury finish on the wine. A touch of bitterness counteracts the lifted red fruit and makes the wine perfectly delicious.

 

 Match to charcuteries, taramasalata and deep fried school prawns.

Grapegrowing and Winemaking.

Richard McIntyre and Jeremy Magyar, with assistance from Peninsula Vinecare in our vineyards and Kate McIntyre MW in the winery

 

Vinification.
– Hand harvesting
– Destemmed and fermented on skins (22 days total)
– Pressed to barrel (3-5 year old French oak) natural MLF in barrel in Spring
– 6 months in wood on lees with 1 racking prior to bottling
– made using our usual red wine making techniques
